Wayne Maugans has worked across the country at theaters such as Manhattan Theatre Club, Signature Theatre Company, Primary Stages, Joseph Papp Public Theater, Yale Rep, Coconut Grove Playhouse, Atlantic Theater Company, Actor's Theater of Louisville, Cleveland Play House, Two River Theater, and LaMaMa ETC. TV credits include Law & Order; Law & Order: Criminal Intent; Third Watch; The Big Easy; and Tribeca. He has also appeared in numerous films including Wake by Andrew Lawton, due out this spring.
Wayne has also directed plays at the American Place Theater, NADA, Main Street Arts Center (Nyack), New York University, as well as the New York premieres of Trailerville by John Dufresne and Uncle by Dean Gray (both at Blue Heron Theatre).
Wayne taught acting and directing with Joseph Chaikin from 1997 – 2003. He collaborated with Mr. Chaikin on several projects including Tourists and Refugees II (Manhattan Theatre Club); body/SONGS by John Belluso (NYSF/Joseph Papp Public Theatre); and The Late Henry Moss by Sam Shepard. Wayne was critically acclaimed for his work in Mr. Shepard’s play Chicago (Signature Theatre Company), also directed by Joseph Chaikin. He is a featured performer in the BBC/PBS documentary Sam Shepard: Stalking Himself .
